15mm Cold War Soviets from PSC - Coming Soon
« on: 08 September 2017, 10:17:34 PM »
Sadly, no additional info, but the cover box art and minis for these 1/100th scale (15mm) troops look very nice:

Can't wait, since I need a bunch of these.

Looked them up on-line, and it appears they're scheduled to be in stock on Dec. 15th, 2017 at PSC.

Hope they decide to do 1/144th scale also, as some rumors have it.  Write them, like I've done, to spur them on, if you want to see more offerings in this smaller scale from them too.  IFVs, APCs, and troops would be especially appreciated in this scale.

Good news. 15mm Cold War gaming is getting a new lease of life (and I'm looking forward to Battlegroup's offering).

Yep, and based upon the box art, looks like these guys are good for the earlier, 1970s period, and possibly the late 1960s too.

Anyone know if there's a US distributor/retailer for these, and/or what the shipping runs from the UK, roughly, percentage-wise?

Also, how do the PSC plastics generally compare to the BF metal troops, in terms of size and heft, as well as overall sculpting quality?

I know they've been doing WWII troops for a while now, but haven't seen them in person.

I've got loads of PSC 15mm figures. They don't really have any 'heft' at all as they are made of plastic, I usually put them on quite heavy bases.

The sculpts vary, but they are typical injection moulded hard plastic with relatively light surface detail and a bit more chunky than human proportioned soft plastic 1/72nd scale figures. They fit in fine with my 15mm metals though (Peter Pig, QRF, Skytrex and Irregular). Don't have huge numbers of BF figures, and the ones I do have are rather bloated and poorly sculpted, but maybe they are older ranges. The only worse figures are the Irregular ones.

They paint up fine though. There are some other current LAF threads with photos of painted PSC stuff.

Thanks for the info, and replies.

By "heft", I really meant figure "chunkiness", not weight.

From the looks of the three figs shown, they do look to be rather chunky.  They're certainly not wearing lightweight, Summer uniforms.

Would love to see some more poses of the figs, and/or the sprues, to see the other troops that will be provided, and am hoping they provide a nice number of different poses.  With 125 figures, I suspect there's lots of opportunity for that.
