mah! accodring to history the italian antifascist resistence was created by the catholic Partito Popolare-Democrazia Cristiana, socialist and comunist, and liberals Partito Liberale, Partito d'Azione. The founder of Partito Popolare was a priest (don Sturzo), the leader of Democrazia Cristiana after the war, Alcide DeGasperi, was a "great friend" of vatican but he never was a "yes-man" of the Pope ... Democrazia Cristiana always refused alleances with the neo-fascist party Movimento Sociale Italiano, even in local governement, and preferred to alley with socialists paties when they cutted thier links with ussr and Italian comunist
... IMHO you have to read history
