Not as silly as it sounds..... What if Mussolini wanted a pliant Pope and sets up an alternative, how would the other Fascist and other Catholics react?

Vatican Civil War? I thought they had one in the sixties, I'm sure I've seen the film

Vatican 2, The Vernacular Liturgy Fights Back. Of course I may have confused that with the much later

Vatican 3: Cardinal Ratzinger, The Return of the 16th Century.

Easy to get those Vatican flicks mixed up with the Police Acadamy series, what with the drag scenes, smutty jokes and toilet humour. Me, I prefer Terry Thomas.

By the way the gag about the fascists wanting a more compliant Pope was very droll.

I do believe old Pius ran a rather good travel agency in the immediate post war era, lotsa folk booking passage to Argentina, Paraguay and the like.  ;)

While we're at it, why not a Very San Marinese Civil War? Hell hath no fury like a nation of 50,000....

Very interesting !!

On the rest:
I cannot think any civil war to break within Vatican city. All are same minded !

But I can fancy a "A Very Italian Civil War"

Imagine: Mussolini+Fascists "Marcia su Roma" failed and we have a civil war in Italy in 1924!
Complete WW1 reenaction!

BTW the Vatican Squads would have chosen the colour "purple" instead of black? I.e. should we have "purpleshirts" instead of blackshirts

I'd appreciate it if the more anti-Catholic commenters would moderate their comments on this forum. Some of us here are Catholic and we don't appreciate such comments against the Church and, by extension, our faith.

I have no issues with a fantasy "Vatican Civil War" but I do find some of the comments about the various Popes both false and offensive.

Speaking as a fellow Catholic, my gun-toting priest was in no-way intended to offend.

I am not the moderator of this thread and I am not a Catholic, but I do not see anything very offensive in posts here. We make jokes, all in good humour but definitely edgier, about , for example, each others nationality all the time here. The reason I mention this at all is because I very much hope that we will not resort to the lowest common level of what's offensive and not. Tolerance is a two ways thing, after all.
