Also, it's much easier to post on FB from your phone than LAF so I restrict LAF to on my laptop.

Neither of my 20 something son's use laptop except for work so I suspect many people aren't interested in media which is not fully mobile phone integrated.

It's nuts to me that forum software companies don't have great mobile themes almost 20 years after the launch of the first smart phone (there are mobile-friendly forum software, but they are ground-up rewrites like Discourse)

I hate FB, as it promotes being an arse for attention and it's hard to keep track of past posts, due to the poor quality search engine - it looks worst than a 90s forum! Negatives aside and I have more, it's the only place I could easily sell stuff - in the first few months, shifted figures that hadn't sold for almost 10 years!

I did use it when I lived in my last city, because it was the only way to sell stuff locally. I hated it, and closed my account as quick as I didn’t need it. I also abhor other “social media” - as you say, it just encourages stupidity.

As for posting on a phone - all my posts here are done by phone!

I'd probably vote no for a child board simply because I feel LAF is already far too subdivided.  I can count on one hand the number of times I even think to visit the child boards when viewing here.

I haven't looked, but I know most forums don't have "tags", which would be a much easier way to search threads, etc.  If you could simply have [Star Wars] and [28mm] added to your post, and people could search by tags it'd be a bit easier.  I haven't even looked for that feature on this forum though.

There's the Search function, which with a bit of practice pretty much does the same thing...

I'd say it sounds like the general consensus is a no - which is fine.  I do use the search function and it works after a fashion.

So, as the OP, I guess we can say the forum has spoken and no Star Wars child board.

While I can see some say LAF is too subdivided, I find the current divisions fairly useful; I can completely ignore some areas I have zero interest in and focus on those areas of interest.
