He has been my inspiration for many of the figures to come. A great illustrator. :)

If you want to see lots more of his Alamo related drawings look here:

A slightly odd question... but does anyone have any sggestions as to what would be a good (skirmish) ruleset for the period?

I was originally going to use the figures in Chris Peers' "War on the Plains"; but it looks a bit complicated for people to be able to pick up readily (at my gaming club we work on a 'take stuff along and people will play... but don't expect them to read the rulebook' type system, which has its own set of merits and disadvantages).

I was toying with LOTOW + Alamo + War on the Plains to cover the period with a few mountain men & indians thrown in; but I've never seen or played the rules; and wondered what peoples views on it were?

Are there any other easy to pick up and fast to play with skirmish rules for this sort of 'early palins wars/texian war of independance' period? Having see the marvellous figures malamute keeps bringing out, do any of them cater for dedicated characters?

I was intending to use LOTOW with the Alamo specs for the Mexicans.
I also have a nice set called Deguello designed specifically for the Texas war of independence.
It has rules for developing campaign games and looks to be good. As with most rules sets in my collection I havent played them yet... ;) lol
Drop me a PM and I'll give you the details.

I have to say LOTOW with the supplement lists is probably the easiest way to go as it will have stats for the rank and vile and you can still put in your heroes and villains.

Very easy and quick to pick up for novice and experienced gamers and the mechanisms are very familiar being GW to most gamers.

Nick I think I may have to place an order for one of everything next month as an "ahem" Birthday Present from my Mam lol

Gloire / Among the War Parties would be perfect for the whole Zorro thing I think.
