New Zorro Personalities

[Malamute]

Here are the latest sculpts for my Zorro/Down Mexico Way range.

Each figure comes with a mounted version.

 They are off to the casters on monday, so I should have the first castings for sale by the end of next week.

First, the Dastardly governor of Alta California and now Texas.
Antonio Miguel de Santa Anna.
Behind his back he conceals a pistol....


Colonel Castrillon. an honourable,but aloof Mexican officer, enjoying a fine cigar.


Congressman David Crockett.- Adventurer, Indian fighter, bear killer and legend in his own lifetime.


Micajah Autry from North Carolina, Crocketts travelling companion in Texas.


Isaac Freeman. A freed slave from Louisiana, travelling in Texas looking to make his fortune.


Charles Despallier. Son of a plantation owner from Louisiana looking for adventure in Texas.


William Blazeby. English sailor formerly of HM Royal Navy, now travelling the colonies, armed with Nock volley gun.


Erastus "Deaf" Smith. Hard of hearing scout, Texas ranger and indian fighter.

Well, I didn't expect these to be of interest but they are even better sculpts than the earlier releases. Absolutely lovely stuff.

I can see Antonio Miguel being used in colonial theatres too.

Mr M, are you planning on having all the defenders of the Alamo designed or just the main Hollywood/MGM stars?

Whilst the majority of folks aren't aware I do have an extensive library for this period as I called this one of my romantic adventures.

Last year I picked up two new books:

'The Mexican National Army', 1822-1852 by William A. DePalo, Jr and
'Sea of Mud' - The Retreat of the Mexican Army after San Jacinto, An Archeological Investigation by Gregg J. Dimmick.

Thank you, I found the latter book an excellent read not only about the digs and finds, but importantly, the retreat and why?

I'm alway looking for someone producing a decent Mexican/Texan range to do them justice for the period.

I can at least say that I've defeated a Texan army on the gaming table with a Mexican army.

He has been my inspiration for many of the figures to come. A great illustrator.

If you are taking inspiration from Zaboly artwork then you simply must do a figure of the Mexican lancer scraping poo off his boot with a stick, from Texian Iliad.

There are just not enough poo-related miniatures out there, you know.

Superb looking figures!     Some have potential for RPG lite type games!   

Texian Revolt not on my short list but still very nice.

Looking forward to a few more poses for the Presidials or similar for Zorro games.  The one draw back to your wonderful figures that I can see is the difficulty of conversion for the "conversion challenged" like myself.

A slightly odd question... but does anyone have any sggestions as to what would be a good (skirmish) ruleset for the period?

I was originally going to use the figures in Chris Peers' "War on the Plains"; but it looks a bit complicated for people to be able to pick up readily (at my gaming club we work on a 'take stuff along and people will play... but don't expect them to read the rulebook' type system, which has its own set of merits and disadvantages).

I was toying with LOTOW + Alamo + War on the Plains to cover the period with a few mountain men & indians thrown in; but I've never seen or played the rules; and wondered what peoples views on it were?

Are there any other easy to pick up and fast to play with skirmish rules for this sort of 'early palins wars/texian war of independance' period? Having see the marvellous figures malamute keeps bringing out, do any of them cater for dedicated characters?
