Who Makes 28mm 1980s Cold War figures?
« on: 17 November 2020, 12:45:41 AM »
I would like to do a project that involves the Cold War set in the 1980s.
I don't seem to find much out there. Mongrol Miniatures do some.
Is there anyone else?

In my opinion you’re more than spoiled for choice, is there any specific army you are after.

Links to some of the many manufacturers below

What he said.

Empress currently do BAOR with L1A1s etc.
They also do a range of vehicles in 1/50 plus the HLBSCo 1/48 range.

Underfire do Bundeswehr.

Soviet (these have had their trousers modified for TW2K).

DDR NVA

West German police and US Army.
More to come.

What are you looking for exactly?  :D
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

You may want to look at Gripping Beast’s MoFo range. Aimed at the 1982 Falklands War plus “Africa” but the Brits are suitable for early ‘80s BAOR.

I would definitely suggest Eureka.  They have some great US in MOPP gear and Soviets.  If you're looking toward the Middle East, they also have a line of Mujahedin.  Great for gaming the 70's-90's, at least.  :)

I've got all of these sets, the US MOPP, Soviets, and Soviet in NBC suits painted up on my blog.  They are great sculpts.  (I don't work for Eureka, but I'm still trying to sell their stuff, I guess... ;D)

I am mainly looking for Soviet Union and United States.
But thought about West Germany and maybe one of the
Warsaw pact countries. Some good companies mentioned
thanks. US in MOPP is not what I am looking for for US.

Empress does have a Vietnam range as well that may fit the bill.  They will be outfitted with the M16, anyway.
Age of Glory carries them in the US:  https://www.ageofglory.com/us-vietnam

The Paul Hicks sculpts are smaller than the Empress BAOR/Ultramoderns and the Under Fire Miniatures (besides the kit difference).

I'm suprised no one mention Mongrel, yet... https://shop.badgergames.com/category.sc?categoryId=9

and IMHO Eureka are really nice figures indeed.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/
