Who makes 28mm mounted and dismounted western figures?
« on: March 06, 2017, 10:42:50 PM »
The same guy in both mounted and dismounted versions. I've seen them but can't remember who makes them. I'm old and forgetful.

Knuckelduster Miniatures and Gorgon Studios do some as well I believe.

Boot Hill do earlier versions which would still work well for mountain men in the 'classic Hollywood' period.

West Wind used to do a very nice range with every figure mounted and dismounted.
Did any other company pick those moulds up, I wonder?

Some of the Foundry chaps come like that, too.

Foundry is place to look. Massive range of Old West miniatures including mounted and dismounted versions of the same model.

Aren't these the same as the West Wind/Old Glory Cowboy Wars

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Knuckleduster makes brilliant foot figures, and Forrest announced his plan is to release a large wave of mounted figures (he's been showing off some pre-renders) sometime in 2017.  From what I've seen so far they will be matching most of the foot figures.

Honestly if you can wait - consider it.  He does some of the very best Old West figures I've ever received and I suspect his mounted stuff will be no different.  I don't know if he plans to sell them in pairs (though it would make sense).

Yes - those are the chaps! Glad to see they are still available; they are pretty nice figures, especially the Mexicans.

Dixon Miniatures has some.  As said below, Foundry offers quite a few.

The Foundry one are very nice but a bit too realistic. Maybe I should first expalin what I want them for.

I play Pulp Ally. One of their supplements covers cars, plains, boats and mounts. The first three look like they would really complicate the game, but I could see using mounts.

My current team consists of Tommygun armed Gorillas wearing 30's gangster clothes (don't ask it is a long story). I don't think I can come up with a reasonable reason (or find decent miniatures) to have them use mounts.  :D :D :D

So instead I am looking for a group of Cowboys or Rangers for another team. They would need to be as Hollywood Western as I could get (singing cowboy if possible). The Old Glory look better for what I want but I am in no rush so I'll wait until those others come out. Unless someone knows they wouldn't look right for what I am trying to do.

Black Scorpion have a handful of mounted figures, and though they don't come with dismounted versions, there is a figure usable for a dismounted version in other sets.

Some examples:
