I'm not familiar with MR, and my understanding (possibly mistaken) is that infantry can't melee with cavalry in BLB, which seems bizarre to me...

Beneath the Lily Banners V2 is great for imagi-nation and is the one I use. Because units are either 3 or 4 bases strong I use 16 fig units on four bases for example, the main reason I like them is because I can remove the super Swedish factors and make units more evenly matched, I tend to die roll to decide if a regiment is trained to fire in volleys or platoons. I also like the command control element which decides what % of your force can be activated per turn. They just seem perfect for Imagination games to me.

My own choice is to use an 18thC set based on Neil Thomas's rules and available via the AMW yahoo group. These are fairly basic rules with some sound modification to add flavour to the period. They're not complex or detailed and are designed for games lasting a few hours but probably more an evening's play than a days.

If you like Old School why not try Charles Grant's set or a modern descendent of it. I've not played BLB but they are devised for 1670's to 1720's so should fit what you indicate you like.

Rules are trickier to recommend than figures!!
