Messing around with some sf/f kitbashing
« on: August 06, 2021, 07:39:24 PM »
Took a break while I was waiting for some putty to set up and decided to kitbash a couple of mind flayers, one for scifi use, one for fantasy.  Went for something more inspired by Mars Attacks than the normal sort-of-Mythos look D&D has favored for decades now.

The scifi one's likely to be my next Stargrave captain, because a Mystic dual-wielding with a carbine and a flamethrower is clearly not trying to do too many things at once.  Not sure about the fantasy model, but it'll get on the table to eat some brains at some point.

Brilliant, I love those Rich. Great putty work to blend the two head parts. Are they top heavy or pretty stable?

Thanks, they started out as goofing around but came out better than I expected.  Stability is fine, but I'm still using the pile of old resin brainworms I bought twenty years ago - I think they were 20 to a blister box at the time and i bought more than one.  The current ones from RBJ are metal, and I suspect you'd want to weight the base or use a washer or something, the plastic body and base are pretty light.
