Jim Henson Goblins.
« on: September 29, 2009, 10:09:25 PM »
Anyone know if there are any goblins like the ones in Jim Henson´s Labyrinth movie?

Wouldn´t it be cool to have the cavalry goblins seen in the Goblin city?!!  ;D

Head over to frother's and search for a user called wiffwaff, tell him Vyper sent you! Very nice goblin cavalry right what you're looking for. For foot soldiers, some of the early citadel plate armoured chaos dwarves work well, also Hasselfree minatures are now stocking Twisted tales's old range of Chaos dwarves in their white metal section, Sjoerd make some nice sculpts that he's passed onto Kev and they paint up really well. Also while you're over at Hasslefree take a look at the twilight range, again with a bit of work might be a good basis.

Remember that scale should vary, one goblin could be based on a plastic Nobbler's feet, stuck in a chaos warriors helmet another could be a 54mm goblin, just play with your ideas!

Loads and loads of inspirational figures at present so go and have a wander out there. Oh and do get hold of Goblins of the Labyrinth by Brian Froud and Terry Jones, great illustrated guide to the little folk!

Cheers

Rackham made this a couple of years ago.

I think it would fit in with a slightly different paintscheme. I was lucky enough to see a collection of the Labyrinth creatures and other Jim Henson creatures 25 years ago at The Museum Of The Moving Image, fantastic stuff!

Yep. And the color fits, too. All this acid in the system is bound to do some good. I remember seeing that movie and thinking: "Whatever it was they took, I want it too!"

Not only painting and scenery making, it appears you are a dab-hand at sculpting too.

Smart-arse  >:(  lol

He's a great figure. I'd never thought about using Henson style stuff before, but there could be great potential in all sorts of F/SF games.

I'm also very much a Brian Froud fan and was lucky enough to see both the props of Labyrinth at MOMI and Dark Crystal when the films came out.
For Dark Crystal fans there was also an accompanying book which is full of wonderful sketches of critters full of Froudiness!
