I have not played AK 47 fir a long time,

Drag them out & have a game, you won't regret it.
I always blame the dice when I get hammered, 'If
that tank unit had been on from the start...' or
'If my RPGs had got one hit on your commander's jeep...'

Many nice things in AK47 such as the countdown dice.
(at the end of each move the defender rolls a dice.
The score is then taken off the countdown total, which
starts the game at 32. This means, for example, when
it gets down to 12 the game might end in two moves,
twelve moves or anything in-between. When it gets
down to six this might be the last move, or there could
be up to five more after it.)
