Federales medic identification question (1910-1920)
« on: 13 December 2022, 05:27:56 PM »
Does anyone have any information on how or whether the Federal medical units during the Mexican Revolution wore Red Cross brassards or other identification?  I know the Red Cross symbol goes back to the 1860s, but I have not found any pictures or text of its use by Mexican forces during the Mexican Revolution.  I have read that Mexican forces on both sides of the revolution used boxcars as mobil hospitals so clearly there must have been some formal medical units.  I would appreciate any information you can provide.

I've not seen any Red Cross insignia in any of the pictures of the time.
Absence of evidence though is NOT evidence of absence.
That said the Human rights violations that are documented would
indicate that neither side would have honoured the Red Cross.

has.been, I've seen the same absence of evidence that you have, and I'm pretty sure that indicates something worth considering.  I'll probably go without any Red Cross id.  Thank you.

rumacara, thank you.  It's an interesting read.  I have seen a drawing of the three-color cross before and a vague reference to it and medical service.  What I read led me to believe that its use was on a flag not a brassard or part of a uniform.  Thanks again for sending this it was well worth reading.
