I have been lurking on this forum for ages and decided I may as well start sharing and participating!
Super quick background on me, I was a Warhammer gamer in my youth in central Florida of the 1990s (no GW stores within 1000 miles back then!), left the hobby around ‘98 for “real life” and because I was “an adult now” (what a fool

). I was also an ACW Confederate reenactor at the time and have a lot of fond memories of that time. Came back to the gaming hobby in late 2019 and quickly arrived at my “WTF happened?” moment as I tried to get back into modern Warhammer. Struggled with that for a couple years until, in January 2022, I quite fortuitously bought a Bolt Action boxed set, found out my neighbor was a miniature gamer, and was introduced to a great gaming club (mostly historical) all within about 2 weeks! I haven’t looked back since and my love for historical gaming has grown immensely. So happy to be back in this hobby with so many great people all across the world!
So I thought I would kick things off by sharing some of the ACW Confederates I’ve been working on with the intention of using them for Sharp Practice. These are all Perry plastics, a mixture of their “Confederate Infantry” and “Civil War Infantry” boxes. All based on round 25mm and associated sabot bases. Many, but not all, future units will be multi-based a la Black Powder (thinking 40mm square with 4 models in 2 ranks).
The models I’ve shared here were done in Army Painter Speedpaints with touch ups here and there with Vallejo Model Color as needed. Always up for constructive criticism, tips, and feedback! Hoping to hear from some of you folks who have played Sharp Practice for ACW as well. How has that gone for you? I’m the only one in my club doing 28mm horse & musket at the moment, as everyone else has gone all in on 15mm for Valour & Fortitude (and I have a large Russian army in 15mm waiting on me to start it). But for now, I have to agree with the late great Bryan Ansell about “those nasty little 15s.” I’ll get over it one day!
