I tend to use a mix of Milliput and Greenstuff, but I don't do a lot of sculpting. I know some people also use a Pasticine/Greenstuff mix which is intriguing.

@Tactalvanic - thank you for that depressing (and old) bit of news, I’d totally missed that.

@Tin Shed Gamer - I honestly thought that the little white gritty inclusions were my fault and something I was accidentally introducing for a long time  lol

Well I’ve bought a few packets but it’s not good news generally. I haven’t found anything that’s as usable yet - if you’re using milliput successfully you are, in my opinion, an absolute legend. Move over C Norris and DL Inosanto. Do you remember plasticine and banana oil? Witchcraft!!

Thank you all for the depressing update,

Andrew

how well does beesputty stand up to vulcanization, in your experience?

Unfortunately, I still haven't tried the Beesputty, despite buying it in May 2016, according to my records :o You can't rush these things lol I bought it from Heresy, and I remember Andy saying good things about it at the time. However, I have no idea how much he did with it in practise. My big problem with polymer clays is the cooking in the oven part, which I imagine would not end well on a plastic figure conversion.

I always dig out my greenstuff when converting, and there's never any casting involved. My few tentative dabbles in that direction went nowhere :(

Anyone tried Geomfix?

I'd never heard of that one until now. I bought some stuff called Cold clay (not coldplay, as Google keeps on insisting) back in 2011, and this seems a similar sort of thing. Cold Clay was discontinued a few years ago, but ended up being used by me as a Milliput substitute.

Apparently I also bought a sample of magic sculpt at the same time. I wonder if it's still usable, as I don't think I've ever opened it (I think I'm detecting a theme...)

I feel your pain. I have antique green stuff and procreate in the toolbox plus some new unopened Geomfix. Trouble is the manufacturers don't sell putty in quantities suitable for occasional dabblers/sabbatical takers/gap fillers/amateur converters plus the claimed shelf life on the products. I can't help but feel that there's a business opportunity for somebody here.

I've had greenstuff in the freezer for probably close on 20 years now, and it's still perfectly usable when I break a new chunk off.

I did put the latest procreate in the fridge, but it crystallised anyway :(
