Nah, you don't want to listen to that rubbish. Get the Cthulhu-themed album "Cacophony" by Rudimentary Peni. Here's a taste...

For me, Metallica!

\m/

Fantastic song, really moody and the guitar solo fits very well.

Don't forget to grab "The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets" fantastic album "Cthulhu Strikes Back" great stuff, kinda campy but still pretty punky/funky!!!

...also, Fantomas, Tomohawk, Rocky Erickson and the explosives/13th floor elevators, some Dead Can Dance stuff is O.K. as well as Thriller by M.J.

Haven't played CoC since the early 90's but how about 'Last Exit for the Lost' by Fields of the Nephilim.

Each to their own, but i feel that all the heavy metal/thrash/punk is just so wrong for a night of Cthulhu. Especially if you are playing a 20s-30s based game!
For me in needs to be moody instrumentals or appropriate music of the time.

Ben Holbrook's Main title from the Call of Cthulhu Soundtrack is about as good as it gets. But you have always got someone like Bill Coleman for authentic music of around the time or Ennio Morricone and Brian Eno for more modern twisted instrumentals. Try the Gothic Dramas album by Ennio Morricone or Apollo Atmospheres & Soundtracks from Eno Look up 'An Ending (Ascent)' really atmospheric.

For me Lovecraft's world of Cthulhu and heavy metal go together about as well as a fart and an elevator... Am I the only one who feels this way?

Not not at all!  I like metal music, and can appreciate it, but it seems very 'anti-mood setting' if played in a Lovecraft game.  Just like in a movie, where an odd placed soundtrack can ruin the 'realness' of a scene, I feel the same for Metal in Cthulhu.

But then again, Erich Zahn may have sounded a bit like Metallica for all I know.....LOL

Oh, tosh! What are you guys on? I wouldn't have that stuff playing if I was exploring the occult.

Aklo, Beyond Madness.  I play them for Arkham Horror and Call of Cthulhu sessions.

Thanks for that, my paint work is pitiful compared to some I have seen on the forum :(

This has been a good topic, despite my rant I do like some of the music that has been posted and metal in general it just doesn't suit the Cthulhu games I play.
