Help me; the sentence seems to indicate that these minis are based on some series or book characters, but nothings "rings" for me...

Those are cool, I bet if you sold a spru of just the heads they would sell too.  They would look nice on some other figure as well.

The BBC was busy with sci-fi stuff back in the day wasn't it?

Those'd make nice armed colonists with an appropriate head-swap, eh? I could see a use for if a head sprue was made too.
Everything is better with lizardmen.
