Cheers fellas -

being a bit of a traditionalist I'd be on tenterhooks as to whether new series silurians would be excellent or whether they'd feel the need to jazz them up too much! Its about time there were some decent dinos on Dr Who though - erase the memory of Invasion of Dinosaurs and the Allosaurus/T Rex in the Cave Monsters!

here's some other older pics (apologies if you've seen them already on the blog!) you might like as well if you're thinking of playing an earth reptile scenario...

Dunno if you've seen the scenario I put together for Invasion Earth on the blog as well - I'm sure it could be adapted for other systems...

ooh almost forgot - dunno if I've past this on before or whether  saw you suggest it in another post but good old Ral Partha might have the solution to a "70s" T Rex - might look the part once the head is repositioned?

Not sure quite how big it is but at £10.95 I'd have thought it was fairly large!

They were quite shocking, if memory serves me well  :(  The Silurians already had a "makeover" post-Pertwee, which wasn't too bad. Overall, the new Who team seem to do re-designs of existing monsters in a tasteful and sympathetic way, so I'd be quite optimistic if our reptilian friends were to appear  :D

He looks very 70s to me. I have a HLBSC T Rex, but he looks a bit "modern" ( if that's the right word ::) ) - so this one should should work with a little chop and change. The current pose is a little bizarre and I can't quite work out what he's supposed to be doing  :?

Yeah I'd agree - seen the pics of the 5th Doctor's silurians although incredibly I've still never watched Warriors of the Deep and it was one of the first Target books I ever bought! I need to see the fearsome Myrka in action  :o

Also love the fact that the BTD mini of the Myrka actually looks like two blokes in what is essentially a pantomime horse costume! Still have to GS a tail for mine like Evil Giraffe's, and please excuse the crappy drybrushing - painted this a while ago!

On the subject of Earth Reptiles - Scales of injustice from the Virgin Missing Adventure series was quite a good read too -

Quote
‘And what exactly, Doctor Shaw, do you think C19 does with the dead bodies of plastic dummies, reptile men, primordial throwbacks and all their human victims?’

A little boy goes missing; a policewoman begins drawing cave paintings; and the employees at the mysterious Glasshouse are desperate to keep everyone away -- the Doctor suspects it’s all down to a group of homo reptilia. His assistant, Liz Shaw, has ideas of her own and has teamed up with a journalist to search for people who don’t exist.

While the Brigadier has to cope with UNIT funding, the breakdown of his marriage and Geneva’s threats to replace him, the Doctor must find the reptiles alone.

And behind it all lies a conspiracy to exploit UNIT’s achievements -- a conspiracy reaching deep into the heart of the British Government.

There is a strange looking colony of Sea Devil/Silurian hybrids in the story that could be fun to recreate...

I've been hoping either the Silurians or Sea Devils would appear in New Who. I'm hoping Stephen Moffat is a fan  :)

He is.  ;)
