How about they have to retrieve a chest containing the sundisk of the Aten an artifact that gave power to the heretic pharao Akenaten before the mumified Ancient prince gets his hands on it and is restored to his full power. There can be a lot of variations on this theme.

Expanding on the scenario ... especially if the good guys lose.  ;)

If Akenaten recovers the sundisk he has to take it to a second location (the top of a pyramid, a temple in a hidden oasis, etc) where once re-united with the "socket" (thinking that the sundisk must have been mounted at some point) if he bathes in the dawn light shining through/reflecting off the sundisk on a *special day* (which of course is in less than 5 days  ::)) he gets his full powers back.

So, let's say this sundisk ia a 'special item' only one per campain...what does it do? Game wise? Extra wounds? Some sort of save against somthing...?

Love the idea of the baddies being able to use it as well... >:D

I think just carrying the sundisc should give you a bonus on your save and immunity resolve tests due to psychology.  While actually completing the ritual to embue you with the power of Aten should perhaps be a bit more. Like causing fear or terror to enemy models wether they be immune to psychology or not. The ability to cast the spell Sinister energies in the form of a ray of sunlight from the disc is another fitting power.
If the Ancient prince completes the ritual, the final scenario could be a desperate try to call to the other ancient gods of Egypt for help to banish the creature back into the underworld. The brave treshold agents trying to hold of the undead until they can complete the ritual.

With any luck 'The Black Pyramid' will be released around X-mas as a freebee on the website... :-X

The Scarab Swarms are 4BP in the underground setting...I would think that is reasonable in a standard game...let me know what you guys think.

I've got a handful of my second skull scarab bases left - these only have four bugs on them (not five like the first castings), but they might be useful:

If you interested in large size creatures to use in a swarm, then this UK Company sells them.

Do you think the swarm rules would also work for larger creatures such as pack of savage, feral dogs? I'm still waiting for my rulebook to arrive but I always like to plan ahead  ;)
...and what fresh new hell is this?

The first 'Deep Places' setting will be 'The Black Pyramid', a series of 5 games to recover some ancient egyptian/Babilonian magical artifact...any Ideas? Anyone?
Not long after I got the book I had an idea for scenery set up.
My idea was a set of standing stones with a Sacrificial alter in the middle and a path leading to a burial mound the type you find in the Orkney island north of Scotland, it could be around 16’’ in diameter you left the top of to play inside, then you would find a hidden passage to a lower level for this you would use floor maps.
But the rules are not really made for this type of game, so ill be looking forward to see what you come up with for corridor type play.
Plus I fancy a chief inspector and British Bobbies to play the part of the Threshold for this type of story line, or even Victorian bobbies.

The prepainted Rot Scarab Swarms from Wotc work quite well.  Cheap too.
