More undead
« on: June 14, 2011, 01:04:47 AM »
I just finished these skeletons.  They are some old citadel and some old either harliquin or heart breaker, I'm not sure.  The Undead army was the first I painted when I got back into the hobby about 14 years ago. I never really had enough skeletons and the ones I had were the old plastics.  At the time I thought the paint jobs were ok. Now I hate them so I decided to upgrade them to metal and only citadel to boot (thanks phil and phreedh). Unfortunately I keep losing all of those bids on evilbay so I settled for the old harliquin metal figs.  I like them they have character. Here are the Citadel first:

I love this guy.

Here are the Harliquin:

Here is the whole unit so far:

I have the old citadel warmachine undead chariot still in its box, unpainted with all the figures. I want to paint it badly but I almost hate to wreck it's virgin nature. Maybe that will be next.  On another note, does anyone have any pictures of a old school citadel dark elf figs. I picked some up recently and I need some inspiration.

Thanks for looking :)

Very nice work on those skeletons, I always love to see them and it's also good to see those Harlequin skeletons with a good paint job! I have to say I have a load of the old plastics and if you want to play Warhammer in this edition it's hard to do without them. They still look good in large numbers I think but of course not as good as the metal models :)

Concerning Dark Elves, I'm painting up the old Mengil Manhides Manflayers for Phreedh. I will post them here when they're finished and approved 8)
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly

Great models, BloodySword.  That harlequin skeleton with the horned helm is great! Looking forward to see your dark elves when that time comes. I have some pics but am at work, can't help you right now.

Nice undead, quite a temporal mix you got going there but it works nice.

As to dark elfs page 5 of this thread has a few citadel and marauder ones, with a very few on the first page also. http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=17354.60

Quite appropriate to revive this old thread on another about the undead  ;).

Fantastic work on those boney bonced ones. Undead is one army I have never really attempted. I never really bought any in the past either. I think I now need to look out on EvilBay for some old skool ones, or maybe I will chance my arm with Mantic's placcy ones for bulk units? Are they any good and how do they scale up with old skool metal stuff?

Here is my first dark elf.  I couldn't help painting at least one.  This an old citadel wizard.

Nice details on the back

I'm planning on painting a unit of crossbows for him to hide in next.

LOVE THE OLD SKELETONS! You did a GREAT job bringing them to life...in a manner of speaking. The Banshee is especially COOL! The flowers make an interesting, contrasting background for the Living Impaired.
I like your color choices on the Dark Elf Guy; the Dwarfish face on his cloak is a very in character touch to the mini. ALL VERY WELL DONE!
