Corroded copper?

Are there any LAF:ers who has attempted to paint a corroded copper statue and want to share a pic of the result?

I vaguely remember something about this in a White Dwarf.

For my dwarven steam-tank of Confrontation, I tried that one a bit:



Maybe this "verdigris, copper rust, green rust" thing is a start. The colour was some kind of scaly-green mixed with white of various colour-tones of something similar to "mint". Then used it like an ink. I did it a few times, even sucking away some of the wet paint with another brush to get these tiny specks within the speck in some places. Also after that I dabbed it a bit with thicker paint in some places.

But maybe that is just to flat according to some pictures in the net, where there are similar structures (but different colours of course) like "real" rust on iron. I would do this plaque-like texture then with pigments and I have even seen (but not tried myself yet) it done with some sort of chalk or crayon (hope the words are correct for this one °_O).

Mattias, du kan grunda den svart, drybrusha lite här och där med den metallfärg som du föredrar, sedan läga på lager med grön/blå ärgliknande färg. Jag har en bra blandning, skall kolla vad färgerna heter. Om du vill så kan du pipa över till mig så kan jag visa resultatet irl, och du kan låna färger.
Jag tycker själv att jag har fått till det ganska bra.

Anyway, yeah see ya on saturday Mattias. By the way, I did go and compare the colour I have used to some corroded copper and such, on the house next to ours and on the old church, and its pretty damn close I must say, not to mention the black and so on mixed in with the copper colour and the blue/green.

I've not done a statue for some time but here is my recipe for old Copper.

Base coat Black

Then very dark brown (allow some black to show through)

Highlight with Dwarven Bronze (very dark copper/tin colour)

Highlight again with Dwarven Bronze and Gold mix

When dry use a very dark green (you can add a touch of dark blue) and with loads of water brush this on as a wash

Second wash lighter green

Then mix up a dirty white add some green or blue to take away the starkness and wash around the detail

Additional washes can help
