Really tricky stuff because of the weak and soft plastic... :(

Yes, looking those figures in a gaming setting I think I would agree that Ironworker & Agis's shaded method is the way to go.

There is an article in the current "Wargames Illustrated" where the author recommends coating the painted figure in neat PVA to give a tough & flexible finish. apparently it dries glossy, but presumbly a coat of Testors etc would matt it down.

I like the look of the re-paint-pr-paints :D  it takes away the plastic look of the figures which being a snobby gamer makes them more like toys  . I also like my figures grubby and battle hardened

I can see what Polynikes is saying.however and perhaps an additonal highlight on the white raised parts myight work. What do I kow though I am not the best of painters

Stormtroopers in the films look shiny and white, more like how the pre-paint started out.

This was my first thought to, as if they have a quite spraycoat of teflon over white to repell grease and dirt. But, hey, I know close to noting about the StarWars universe.

I bet it´s the dark side of the force. Better than Future to keep the evil sheen on your fascist white armour. Recommended by 2 out of 2 Sith Lords.

Lovely stormtroopers. I HAVE to get some someday to go with my AMT AT-STs.
