I just bought some cheap mass produced ones from ebay. They're actually pretty good and with a bit of drybrushing should come out great.

These are the ones I bought.

I am also a fan of the ones that Timeline-Miniatures sell.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Personally think Pegasus are fiddly and rubbish.  I get mine from a cake manufacturer (they are used for wedding cakes and the like) in the mid-west .  V. cheap and look great en masse.

Hi
You may be interested in the Timeline-Miniatures range of palm trees.
I have about 100 in stock at the moment and I sell them for £1 each as long as you buy 10 or more
They have been used by all of the magazines but for some reason they never seem to be credited.
I will try to get some pics posted

regards
Barry

Here's a picture of Barry's palm trees. I've got a lot of these and they're very nice quality and very good value.

I have some of the Lemax ones, they are also nice.

I also have Pegasus, cake deco, all kinds of plastic railroad palms in various sizes/hights.

I'll take a pic of my Lemax ones, and my finished Pegasus and cake deco palms, with a few minis and a couple of small sand dunes tonight.

In th emeantime, some of my my cake deco palms (from Pfeil and Holing or something like that) can be seen in a desert environment here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=932.15

And, yes.... another almost finished, pending project...  ::)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Best looking plastic palm trees for the price that I have ever seen online were in the photos on this old thread by mortimer from February 5, 2010 here on LAF's colonial forum. His plastic palm trees were from a shop in Valencia, Spain that sold nativity scene stuff. He posted the address and phone number of the shop:

I'd say that the Pegasus palm trees are second best after this. After cleaning, gluing, basing, priming with Rustoleum plastic primer, and painting, they look quite good. Lot of work to paint them, but the look is worth the effort. Considering that good figures now often cost $4 US or more, the $3 for a large plastic palm tree that adds just as much or more to the scene is probably worth the price and time.

Those Spanich trees are impressive - and I did not get around to let my stuff pose for the camera - will try tomorrow. I'm time-challenged these days.

EDIT:

Quite interesting stuff, there:

These are cheap plastic palms bought off eBay after a bit of 'tarting' up.

Cheers,

Here are some trees with a couple of minis for size:

Lemax. Note, that the trunks are made of some kind of paper rolled tightly together. One of the small ones is broken at the base, but it can easily be repaired. One frond has detached itself from its thin wire stem, but again, a little glue.

Pegasus. Only one type shown here. I decided to put them on a larger base after using them in a couple of games; they are a bit top heavy, as the base is also plastic. I haven't found the will to paint the fronds, yet...

Cake deco. Cheap and ok. The grass is tops of small sticks for hors d'oevres for tiki themed parties...  ::)

I also have a lot of the ones shown above, plus probably a couple of types more (I have most of a storage cardboard box filled with palms - totally bonkers, really  lol  )

And, just for fun: An aquarium deco piece that surfaced during my search for my palm trees. Had forgotten all about it  :)
