Heavy Gear Leagueless Army WIP
« on: 31 October 2011, 03:23:35 PM »
Well, it's taken me several weeks but I'm finally finished assembling my Heavy Gear Leagueless army - the Terra Nova Liberation Front, a group of political refugees and anarchists bent on eliminating the tyranny of the Polar Leagues.

Note that their V-Engines aren't on yet, as I'll be painting those separately.

The Army Commander Kodiak

The Army Commander Support Group - 2x Badlands Pythons with scratchbuilt MRPs, a Wild Ferret, and a Crusader IV.

The Recon Group - Pitbull, Wild Ferret, Chieftain, Silverscale, Pitbull

The Standard "Assault" Group - Jager with MBZK (there's some Gundam inspiration here), Spitting Cobra with VHAC, Flame Jager. Black Adder with linked MRPs, and a Dartjager.

Some of these were just a bear to assemble (bad mold lines, heavy pitting, etc) and some were a breeze (notably the Crusader IV, which required about 5 mins of filing). I could have easily contacted DP9 about some of the really bad pieces but, I do like a challenge!

They look pretty good but they will, I'm sure, look much better once they have some paint on to remove the shine.

I am quite keen on these minis but they are quite expensive so I would really need to be sure what I was buying before I splashed the cash...is there any chance that when you take further pix, you could put a 28mm up against some to show the proportions?  A ruler is just not good enough when proportions are involved (plus I'd rather see a mini).

I'll be watching this thread regardless as you have a motley bunch going on here :).

i totally love them!

They are 1:144 scale, right? but the actual size is around 28mm!

How much was for each of them? :)

Generic Trooper Gears of Size 6 (Hunters, Jagers, Warriors, etc.) are about the same size/proportions of a GW Space Marine. The two Ferrets I have are Size 5 and are about 1/2" smaller than that. The larger Support Gears (Badlands Pythons, Crusader, Bears, etc.) of Size 7 are about the same size/proportion as a GW Ogryn. The Kodiak is about 1/2" bigger than that.

Larger models, esp. Striders like the Sagitarrius, are the same scale as a GW Sentinel. A Gear's/model's Size Rating is a relatively accurate portrayal of their scale in the real world, though in-game Size actually denotes Mass rather than weight.

Yes.

They're right around $10 a pop. Not too bad. They're decently sculpted, and the game is a lot of fun. Well written, and detailed.

I've primed them. Finishing up an Engineering Cobra conversion for the Golden Gear contest right now...

...and I have about 10 tables' worth of terrain to work on before Adepticon, but I will post some more pics soon-ish...

I'm eager to see these guys painted up.

I've been a massive fan of the Heavy Gear RPG for years, but have just recently (as in, yesterday) decided to get into Blitz/Arena. I'm still trying to decide who I'd like have for a starter army.
