Landships
« on: 16 January 2012, 08:09:54 PM »
I plan on creating a series of cardboard Landships and design a rulesystem to go with them.

For now I've started on the "blue-prints" for the largest type of Landship (below are the plans for the HMS Dreadnought - a bit wider than the original):

Interesting idea!

What scale are we talking here?

Hmm. Not quite sure. Didn't build to any scale.

This model will be 18,5cm long, 5,5cm wide and 4,5cm high (chimney top).

The "real deal" would be about 300 feet long.

Well I felt inspired and got straight to building the thing:

It won't be a perfect fit, but good enough for me anyway.

More like 1/500 I think.

A little progress:

Oh, very nice, looks like a 'proper' landship, not merely a scaled up tank. I do wish I could construct things from scratch like that.

I shall be watching this. :)

On rules; I assume you know of Wessex Games' Land Ironclads set?

Thanks. :)

I'm currently working on the tracks. They're somewhat inspired by WW1 tanks, but the model still retains the ship-look imo:

I must confess that I have little experience with naval games other than Battlefleet Gothic and Man'O'War and I still browsing the net for a good source on WW1 Naval Tactics. Event though the fighting is transfered to land, I still feel that some of the same elements apply.

Great stuff. I can't wait to see the finished results.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.
