Heavy Landships from 40K Leman Russ
« on: February 05, 2012, 01:44:36 PM »
I've just finished converting two Games Workshop Leman Russ tanks into Heavy Landships for my VSF British.

I know I'm nowhere near in the same league as some of the master craftsmen here at LAF, but I'm really pleased with the way they came out, so I thought I'd post them here to show what a colour-blind-hedgehog-in-a-bag can come up with occasionally.

More pics and details on my blog.

Nice, good buy too. Better than paying GW prices for a model to convert.

It was the wish to "steam" up my GW Russ(s) after getting my hands on the Praetorians (ok I know ;)) when they were 1st released that led me down the slippery path that is VSF -still have the Russ's waiting to be finshed (5 or 6 I think) waiting for the "right" boiler may get around to finishing them  ::)
Nice job just going to check out your blog.

Thanks for the kind words, all.

Well as you can see, the Black Pyramid boiler just fits perfectly on the Russ's rear hull.

Nice, good buy too. Better than paying GW prices for a model to convert.

The downside is you have to deal or live with whatever the original builder did to the model.  Like all of these tanks having the left and right tread facing in opposite directions, which seems weird to me.  Or the two I'm working on at the moment, where the builder thought gluing down the turret was a good idea  ???

DrV as soon as I saw your rear end :D 1st thought was "I've got some of them" along with the Ramshackle turrets.

These awkward beasts look as if they belong...finally, nice job.
