Before Watchmen
« on: 03 February 2012, 11:29:07 AM »
Not sure if this is too far removed from actual superhero miniature gaming a subject to be here, but I'm sure moderators will see to that in a jiffy... ???

Anyway, this is I think about the latest news bit on DC's "Before Watchmen" project:
http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2012/02/01/the-covers-for-before-watchmen/

Admittedly DC is bringing out some serious firepower to bear here, but still I'm getting a whiff of lukewarm leftovers... Hopefully I'm dead wrong there since I'm rather sure DC is going to make a buck or three from these anyways: it'd be good if they made in from something that is actually at least, well, good.

I thought the same thing: very good artists for an uninteresting idea. I'd rather read this one instead.

I'd say that's good news, I generally like prequels. Prequels are expanding of what has already been told in the original. You cannot do much wrong. Looking forward to it.

Fabulous. But clever old Alan Mooore even anticipated dodgy prequels in the original \Watchmen...

Don't know if you've read recent Alan Moore stuff, but you're not missing much.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is fantastic.

I liked the first two LXG books, but Black Dossier and Century left me wanting my money back.

I can see how The Black Dossier and Century could be polarising for fans of the more straight-forward earlier volumes of LXG. Personally, I loved 'em. And the third volume of Century is out in June, bringing the story up to 2009...
