Sources for girder arches?
« on: May 08, 2012, 02:54:46 PM »
Anyone know where I can get hold of arches similar to this? They will be for a 28mm build and not as grand as the size of the bridge in the pic - lower with a much and smaller span.

The end result will be something like this but more gothic and Victorian London.

I don't have a specific link, but perhaps some model railroad stuff might be worth looking at?

I've got a few here: Pardulon girders

Also, I do have a third kind which hasn't made it into the shop (yet) which I used for my own bridge. Please drop me a note if you need any of those.

Not sure what size you're after, but if you google 'gutter fascia brackets' you get lots of interesting results that it might be possible to press into service. I remember looking at them on a trip to my local hardware store once and thinking 'Oh, those look like they might be useful!'

If memory serves didn't Airfix used to make a plastic Bailey Bridge in 1/72 scale?  It might make a good source for some of the straighter beams.

Yes the old pontoon bridge has some good side pieces that are great for kit bashing this sort of thing

I've just remembered that they also used to make a girder stylee railway bridge (or I'm totally loosing it) also in 1/72 scale - the dreaded Evil-bay might be a good source?

The old Airfix railway kit moulds were aquired by Dapol.
As far as I know they are still available through model railway shops.

Gents,

Thanks for your help. I've got plenty of the stright sections, it's the arches I'm after.

At least I've got some leads now.
