I'm looking for a kilted, bearded highland barbarian?
« on: 07 September 2012, 01:17:40 PM »
I'm looking for a kilted barbarian type with a beard - something like this:

I want to paint one up as a gift for a friend - he's a big bearded fellow himself, and he got married in a kilt.  I think a bearded barbarian in the style of this piece of artwork would be perfect - maybe with a big two-handed sword, or a stein of beer...

I've looked through Reaper's catalog, and I don't much care for anything they've got - but, sadly, outside of Reaper, I'm just not familiar with the various historical and other sources for kilted barbarians.

So, what's out there?  Celtos?  I-Kore?  Hasslefree, maybe?  One of the historical manufacturers?

Any suggestions (with links to photos of minis or webstores!) would be much appreciated!

Lots of bearded kilties on the Celtos list:

Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

I would look again at Reaper they have a nice highlander with a hammer and a Bonnet which would be nice, sometimes they are listed with names rather than just highlander

Hey

There is also the Warlord games Pike and shot Range and the ebob rebellion range

Not sure if they are too 'historical' for your taste. (Or in the case of the ebob stuff quasi-historical)

If you don't mind doing some conversion work, the Trollbloods from Hordes probably have a good base for you.

I use this big warrior for LotR games but if you paint his kilt properly you will have your Scot!
