So, what manufacturer of ready made trees would you guys recommend?  Suitable for 28mm miniatures.

Depends, if you want a lot of trees to really make a forest, I recommend this chap. I've only bought trees for 15mm from him, and for that they are very good value for money.
As are the palm trees for making ferns.
