CROM Scenery in 18mm - a new year, a new adventure
« on: 05 January 2013, 06:32:53 PM »
Hi,

Having had a couple of days off over the Christmas break, I managed to get some quick scenery items made for my CROM 18mm project - this one will bump along in the background this year.

A small tree base with sand on the base ready for a sepia wash

A "monolith", made of a slate fragment; base sepia washed ready for grass

A slate "block" on a completed base - cheap static grass and a couple of tufts.

A small stone circle made from a piece of styrofoam and three slate fragments

A Copplestone 18mm Barbarian happy amongst the stones.

The trees look a bit "loo brush" like in the photos but on mass they look quite good. I bought them at a local model shop - fifty in a bag ranging from 10mm high to 50mm high. The over sized trunks are made from BBQ skewers grained and stained, and drilled through to accept the wire "trunk" of the trees.

Nice looking scenery, looking forward to an after battle report!
I go to pieces so fast that people get hit by the shrapnel.

Thanks Guys,

What static grass are you using?

The static grass is the from "Javis" - I think it's mostly their "Summer Mix" with a bit of "Spring Mix" added to it. No special treatment just scattered over some watered doen PVA/white glue. www.javis.co.uk
