I lived in the California desert for a bit, at first I didn't like it but after a while you get this whole sorta' Jim Morrison zen-thing with it  . Many years later I still miss it. So peaceful & quiet.

I had the opposite experience...but that was due to my line of work.  I couldn't look out on the desert without knowing how much crap/nonsense was going down there.  It may look pretty in pictures, but I wish I had pictures of the "normal" desert....covered in trash.

I get the feeling that you & I are in similar lines of work.

As one living in the middle of europe, I can't imagine how it would be in the desert... I think I would feel like on a different planet
