Heresy Miniatures Sci-Fi babe "Leeloo"
« on: April 23, 2008, 08:18:12 PM »
Hi Everyone,

After watching Fifth Element the other night i realised i had a mini from Heresy sculpted to represent the female character "Leeloo".

She was great fun to paint and im pleased with the result. The base is from Antenociti, really great quality from him.

Looking forward to hearing what you think, thanks for looking:

lovely, RJ, like the skin and the gun! To be honestly, I found the mini a bit odd but have to say, your painting really got the best out of it  :)

You've done a great job with her!  But I agree about the sculpt being odd...those feet are ginormous!

Did you get the Bruce Willis Character as well?

Plus, I thought somewhere, someone was making those goofy aliens...the Mangalores?

What did you expect, it´s the 1990s (well the 2200s seen from the 1990s)! In Europe, those things did for late 1990s girls fashion what perms and mullets did for the 1980s!

:o

Nice painting! The orange could do with a little bit more "whammo", i.e. be more vibrant and glowing, but the technique, composition and basing is great.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I know what you mean about the sculpt, not the best ive ever worked on. I kinda liked the big feet tho, made everything look a lil more cartoony which suited the look i was going for.

The actual casting wasnt very clean at all, lots of flash and the surfaces werent very smooth. I find this with most Heresy sculpts... anyone else have any issues?

she will end up on eBay soon i think, need the funds for my Darkest Africa project  :)

That's very nice RJ, I really like the boots myself.  :)

I've never had a bad casting from Heresy, and from what I've heard, it's quite uncommon to get one.

I suppose one or two must slip through, as Andy does all his own casting in the shed, but usually quality control is pretty tight. If you ever get one you're really unhappy with, drop him an email and I'm sure he'd sort it out.

Yes, I've got about 20 or so and all are nicely clean & crisp, with very little prep required to paint.

Maybe you were just unlucky and got one from a bad batch?

Neither have and I have ALOT of Heresy stuff. Andy is almost obsessive in respect of the quality of his castings and rightly so. As my learnt colleague says if your not happy drop him a line... though you've painted her up a treat!
