Missed the beginning - caught up with it when the four men were pulling on a rope.

Same.

I actually rather liked the characters and thought they were well written and acted.

As has been pointed out, It's a shame about the direction and filming effects (though I think the black and white sort of worked).

Very disappointing - I liked the acting/clothes/music/setting, but as to the whole allegory crap, I guess I much prefer a honest to goodness story (must be getting too long in the tooth) .... having wrote that, wouldn't mind watching again (just in case lol)
