Battle of Prestonpans
« on: 18 February 2014, 12:45:39 AM »

Bonnie Prince Charles addresses the men before the battle.

The British in formation for the battle.

The Jacobites ready to attack.
A few words about the setup of the battle.
Rules are a take off from The Sword and the Flame.
This battle was setup after a Saturday morning call to a friend game played that afternoon.
Also the British were short of Cav. Also added stronger artillery.
The British have better morale that what they had in real life. Did not want them running away as happened in the battle.
The battle next.

As the Jacobites advanced, the British swing their left passed the road.

The lines meet. The die behind the units show if the unit had first fire and to keep track of reloading.
Usually there would be a first fire and then the units move into melee.

On the British right the artillery fired into the Jacobites doing damage to them. again they had better morale that just running as in the real battle.

The British fire causing losses, but the Scots keep on coming. Three of the four British are slammed into by the Jacobites. The British were beginning to be forced back due to losses.

A closeup of the fight along the line.
For the most part the Jacobites pushed the British back.
But they took a number of men lost in doing it.

One of the British units falling back.
It was interesting to note that if the British left had not advanced across the road they would have been off the table.

The British units about to be hit for the final time. At this point the British were about done in, ready to route, so we called the game.
All in all a fun game, especially when it was put together in a few hours.
