Sarissa - System Infinity Terrain
« on: 22 February 2014, 11:53:11 PM »
Anyone bought/used the Sarissa Precision - System Infinity Terrain?

I am thinking about how to model the doors ... I'm thinking that I'd like to have the doors on or off and trying to come up with a good way to achieve this. Current thinking it that I could put a wooden plate on the inside of the door with a support on the bottom so the door is free standing but can be placed in the doorway or moved aside.

It's not ideal but the other options are to fiddly/fragile.

Has anyone else come up with a different solution?

I bought a few of these they are less expensive they are made of a foam board type stuff and can be worked on easily

Those TME buildings are made from 2mm foamed PVC sheet.

It's tougher than regular foamboard, and resistant to spray paints and superglues, but almost as easy to cut as foamcard.

A friend has a table made from Sarissa precision stuff - and it cost him a packet - and he still isn't satisfied with it (but he's a perfectionist unable or unwilling to lower his expectations).

I bought some of the Sarissa pods and had the same issue with the doors.  My solution was to cut off the little nubs on the side of the door that are intended to hinge and glued them back to the door frame.  Then I used some styrene strips to create a lip behind the door frame.  The door itself is then pushed in and just stays in place with friction, or I can pop it out with just a little pressure.  It's not elegant but it gets the job done.
