Corrupting the next generation :)
« on: April 03, 2014, 07:20:32 PM »
Found these in a charity shop for 10 pence today :) thought they might be perfect to get my children into Wargaming.

Next step us to get them painted and acquire a suitably heroic individual to slay them all...

Let's be honest...wargaming is just an adult's way of justifying or legitimizing playing with toy soldiers.   lol  I plan on doing the same with my nephews if they ever show any interest.  Being a geeky gamer I suspect I stand a good chance of being "Going to Uncle Oscar's house!? YAAAAY!"  lol

I totally agree with you.

but you guys say it like it's a bad thing  ;)

does it need legitimizing really tho? if it's fun then surely as adults we're entitled to make pew pew noises and pretend to be wizards for a little bit?

Oh not at all...I think it's a great thing, and an excellent hobby.  Of course I come from a theatre background, so...I love making me some pew pew noises.  lol

Agree wholeheartedly with Elbows, in fact I find great enjoyment in gaming with my wife and children. Check out this page, http://swordandsorceryrpg.com/the-campaign/lnh_invasion/raid-on-larbro/ where my son and daughter (8 and 14 yrs) take on an old friend of mine in our ongoing fantasy campaign. I can tell you that the kids and adults were all having a great time!

Art student and soon to be fine art sculpture student, my love of the hobby gave me the skills to get all my places in art college and now uni :) anyway, if you wanna get the younger ones into gaming try and find the old airfix robotech game, it's wonderful and has real firing missiles .

As a massive Robotech fan I have never heard of an Airfix Robotech game (unless it's the big play battle set thing which I didn't realize was a game in itself).  My nephew is 6 but is a bit too destructive to bother with real minis just yet.  Might have to create a game just for him using various plastic soldiers etc.

Hell no! And could not care less if people, whoever they are, think of me less for gaming/playing with miniatures.
