Hello everybody,

I have been using static grass, tufts and leaves for a while now.
I recently bought some flower tufts and a huge 50 L bag of Pine bark.
Now I want some inspiration for basing ideas.

Please use this thread to post your own efforts or favourites so that we can all be inspired to do more creative bases.

Here are some of my recent efforts with rocks and flowers - from June 2014.

These woodland themed bases are from September 2013

And this is typical of my historical armies.

Nice idea Mick! Not sure if this is really a contribution, but it's my humble offering to your quest... and my favourite war-game base so far.

Cheers

My own guiding principle with basing is "less is more..."

A water base.

And bases should compliment and enhance the figure standing upon them, not overpower them.

A couple of small scenic elements utilising various tufts etc.

I know they are not exactly bases, but the same rules apply......

One of my Old West buildings that has become a little overgrown.....

And a couple of one of my ruined medieval buildings.....

@Za Zjurman
You have done great things with flowers.  Thank-you for sharing the pictures. :)

@Mason
I really like your statue bases and the ruined medieval building. :-*

@orctrader
Your bases are very impressive.  I like the water base - I would never have thought to try that. :)

Thanks everybody
Mick

I like to blend my models into the base to tell a story.  This one is playing hide and go seek.

Looks just like an empty corn field right?  Here is the rear view where the model is hiding.  Cleaver trick right?

Seriously I wanted to do something a bit different.  Hope that gives you an idea.

Cornfield was an O scale Rail Road company out of Vietnam.  I think they are called JR miniatures.  Don't quote me on that.  They are paper mounted on wire.  32 stalks per pack.  Us was about $9.00 at the hobby lobby.  I picked up fifteen packs when the local Hobby Lobby was removing their train stuff from inventory.  They were over half off and would order more at the sale price.  From what I understand in Europe they are mail order only.
