What a lovely day - Flowers' Road
« on: May 17, 2015, 06:28:01 PM »
Inspired by Scurv's small scale project http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=78723.0 and anticipating a viewing of Fury Road (fun fact: translated literally from the verbal, this would mean Flowers' Road in Maltese....), I dug deep into the dungeons to find an ancient windfall - a huge pile of old metal Epic 40K Ork vehicles, and nearby, a whole lot of ork and squat bikers. I'm going to use Max-type colours, beginning with this dull beastie.

And I just noticed the nick on the gun, will repair that.

Progress: this has become a real project. Anyone remember the Pappis Box challenge, with a whole game stored in a box? This will be a variant on this, with the difference that the box I chose is a bit bigger.

Box:

Landscape:

Each tile is 30cm x 30cm, just right for the width of the box.

Pile of lead:

In line on the work bench:

I love it. Those cars look perfect too
Thanks Scurv, it's your own 6mm Mad Max thread which started it.
I'm trying to restrict myself to models which could work in the Mad Max universe - and the old Epic ork range includes some usable stuff. The Spleenrippa (if I remember the name correctly) on the left would not really be suitable as an overpowered  big gun dragster, but reducing it to a one-shot per game cannon it could just work.

I'm really in two minds about the cork - keep it the original colour, or paint in sand or grey shades. Or as is with some sparse patches of flock. That's 3 minds actually.....

Most of it will be flat desert (otherwise it won't fit in the box, see?), but I'll add a couple of bits of scenery to break the monotony.

Looks, good, why not game with the cork plain and see what you think? Or bung photos up here for opinions? You can always paint them later.  8)
