Well, your English is better than mine, so the mistake would be easy to make......

I think not - you probably know a lot of words and connotations that would leave me baffled, blank-eyed, jaw-dropping, and staring if I were to be involved in a spoken conversation.

It's just that we Danes have an affinity for languages - we have had to develop this because we are a small nation without many natural resources, surviving on trade 

I, myself, went to university to study international business economics, German and English, while others do the same with French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese(?)....

Furthermore I grew up watching a lot of (now classical) American movies on German TV (with German voice-over: Hände hoch!) and most films on Danish TV (with subtitles) are from Hollywood, anyway. And we are now taught English in school from 3rd grade on... (In my time it was from 5th).

You won't find many Danes who do not speak at least 2 foreigh languages - and of the rest only a tiny fraction would not at least be able to make themselves understood in either German or English (mostly very old geezers and/or very stupid youngsters preferring dope and crime to knowledge).
