Meet Miss Rossum
« on: July 28, 2013, 05:51:45 AM »
Who is behind all the automatons that populate the steampunk London of IHMN and EOTD? In my version, it's Miss Rossum, who runs Rossum's Anthropomorphic Automatons. Come meet her on my blog, "Dispatches from the Rim."

I do love it when people put this much effort into their characters. It makes each game, whether it be EotD or IHMN, into a chapter of a story.

Ah. Very good. i was in a stage production of R.U.R. about 20 years ago.
A very interesting piece. And incredibly advanced thinking considering Capek wrote it in 1920. Not so very different from many a contemporary sci-fi blockbuster in its basic premise...

Nice figures too  :)

An excellent back story. These would certainly make an interesting faction for IHMN.

Have a look also at the Malifaux range, where you will find small an large spider-like automata to scuttle about (the smallest make great swarms).

ALL seems a bit presumptuous.  ;)

Still, a handsome concept with a handsome woman...

Thanks for not making her 'steampunk' Tank Girl in a pirate outfit. Not sure I'd weaponize her, though. Seems more the type who'd have spanner in hand. Combat would take the precision of a mechanical artifact, and she'd be the one to produce it.

Craig: I definitely game "for the story." Always have. For me it just ups the stakes of the game and makes things seem to matter more. Every loss is deeply felt, too.

The_Beast: Great idea on her armament. Reminiscent of the videogame "Dead Space" in a way -- engineer Isaac Clarke dispatches the necromorphs with construction tools found aboard the spaceship.

Captain Blood: I agree. I've known about R.U.R. for years but only read it for the first time very recently. It felt very fresh, especially being nearly a century old.

Bullshott: Thank you! I'm going to try my hand at drafting some stats for her and her creations shortly. I also envision there being some darker, non-public automata of hers, and many of the Malifaux figures, and the upcoming Clickers for EOTD from West Wind should fit the bill nicely.

In IHMN terms, maybe Miss Rossum IS an arc generator
