What did you use to texture the bases, please - it looks smaller-grained than the fine beach sand I have scavenged for my hobby needs?

it is just fine sand from my local beach.  I actually thought it was too fine when I first got it but it is ok for some uses.

Thanks, I'll have to be on the lookout when visiting beaches, then. The sand I have is nice for earthy bases, but actually a bit on the coarse side for desert sands.

I see you live at Dannevirke? Was it founded by Danish emigrants?

It was, about 110 yrs ago. On the same ship were a group of Norwegians and they founded 'norsewood' about 15kms down the road!
