ATZ FFO AAR: Bedford UK, Prelude!!! (With pics)
« on: 09 January 2015, 04:39:46 PM »

I decided to fire up my new campaign today, couldn't wait  lol!!!

A few things have changed/ been added to the rules from my previous version of ATZ and I started with rolling on which floor the PEF's should be (low ground, high upper). Obie didn't behave very heroically, but that's fine, he needed to look out for himself so he could continue and find his daughter. His colleagues blew See the Feast but Obie managed two successes. He defended himself successfully twice but only knocked the Zed's down, enough to allow him to escape though. I rolled A LOT of doubles on initiative, generated Argument, Dog with Zed, a couple that wasn't applicable and even advanced the time into Evening  :o!!!

I think this will be a very interesting slant on the game. The next one will be a search for his daughter Amca!!!

"OBIE" (Star)

A Swede who recently turned middle-aged, but have lived for many years in the UK. He has a little daughter from a previous relationship but lives on his own and works in the local hospital. In his youth he was in the forces and he's got CQC/MA experience. He's well known around work as a funny, happy, cheerful bloke and in his free time he likes to do long distance running and working out, keeping himself in good shape for his age. He also speaks several languages to a varying degree.

Morale   4   Medic 1
Shoot   3   Initiative
Melee   4   Never considered to be Unarmed
People   4
Tech           2
Fitness   4
Drive           3

The most important thing in the hobby is that you're having FUN! Doesn't matter if you win or lose.

I'm glad you weakened an started your campaign!!! excellent start.  I enjoyed reading the story as it unfolded and will watch out for the next part.  Having a campaign with limited guns is quite scary as it could all end in tears very quickly!! lol
As for the 'lots of doubles problem', I was finding the same thing, especially when I was rolling 3 different initiative dice so I house ruled that only hero and zed dice doubles generate random events.  If I get a double from any other combination I ignore it if neither activate or roll off the get an order if both do.  Otherwise it seems that events are happening every other turn!!
Anyway - have fun and remember to show your new toys when they turn up!!

Thank you very much, I enjoyed it both playing it and writing it up. I think the sensible approach for the moment is to be very wary of combat until you have kit to support you, whether it be a more effective melee weapon or  :o a gun!!! Well, the cons with limited guns is as you say, it could be very bloody quickly, the pros, not so many Zed's generated  lol got to have a positive attitude.

I stuck to two dice for the scenario "Party" and "Others", or I might simply declare that only double 4's and 5's generate a Random Event, 6's advance the daytime as usual.

Great start and a very fun read.
Thanks for posting it.
I look forward to the next one.

I agree, be careful until you get some weapons. It's surpsising how much difference even an improvised one, ie crowbar, makes.

Thank you, it was a fun but difficult beginning, had to be careful and not doing any silly heroics  lol. Well, technically Obie is always counted as he's armed with an Improvised Weapon anyways, so he didn't subtract any dice in Melee. But 4 vs the Zed's 3 is still a bit hairy...
