Palm Trees help
« on: 02 February 2015, 11:26:07 AM »
Hello all

Can someone point me where i can find palm trees cheap and in several sizes?
I cannot find here in Portugal except from Preiser and they are expensive.
I also checked in pet shops without success.

Thanks for the help

Cheers

Rui

Rui,
There are some very cheap ones from China if you don't mind waiting. Search on eBay under Trains/ Railway Models.

Hi Rumacara,

I have some of those mentioned by Smirnoff and they look fine. I also needed a jungle-load (I believe that is the correct term for such a quantity  :D).

I based mine using a hot knife to flatten the tip of the base a little and then a hot glue gun onto several old CD's which I had painted green. These, flocked up, with additional moss and foliage did the trick and were easy to store and lay out too.

Good luck.

Hey Rui,

Palm trees with real wood trunks and silk leaves. Q10 for US$24.95 / Q20 for US$44.95 / Q50 for US$109.95
http://tabletopscale.com/terrain-amp-accessories/
Trunks can be easily cut to size with a sharp set of scissors or small hobby saw and then glued to any base.
Imported plastic bamboo stalks to go along with them.

Best,
Bill

rumacara,

See this thread on the colonial forum:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=16230.0

Those palm trees were purchased in Valencia, Spain. The company that produces them sells them for nativity scenes. Those look as good as any plastic palm trees that I've ever seen.
