Need some advice on these two

They're just not that interesting the way I painted them.

The green and khaki don't contrast much.

And sorry for the glossy sheen.  I had to put on some varnish because the paint kept chipping away.  I washed them before priming but apparently I didn't wash them enough.

Your thoughts?  Your advice?

Also, any ideas for adding some camo to the khaki?  Maybe something like Bundeswehr Wustentarn?  I just want them (and the other 12 who turned out a bit better) to look more interesting.

I think that part of the issue is that the colours are not shaded or varied. Everything except the hair seems on the flat side.

Id put a mat varnish over the top as in photo makes them look glossy and hides highlights

They look good, but to make them "pop" I would keep adding white to the base colours and keep highlighting maybe two or three more times.

Those might help you get some ideas.  Also if you were unaware, you can spray mat sealer over the gloss and it will take that shiny effect away.  Hope that helps.

They actually are shaded, re-based, and highlighted.  The gloss is distracting but the lack of contrast is real, gloss or not.

I'll put some matte over them later.  The gloss was to stop paint from rubbing off.  These two (of 14) seem to be unlucky.

Do y'all think the khaki needs some spots to look more interesting?

Like Warburton said, the bases are the problem, the figures look pretty good.

Add some debris, break up the colour a bit and lighten it, they'll look 100% better.

I think Warburton meant the base-colors of khaki and OD, as opposed to the bases themselves.

Those will get a treatment of beast brown and snakebite (or whatever they're called these days).  Then, a tiny bit of foliage.  Don't worry, the bases will become more interesting.    It's the figures' clothing and webbing I'm fussing about.

I came up with a name for these guys.  Let's see if you can figure it out:

If You're not set on the green camp have you thought about urban colours, blacks and Gryes?

I think I should have done black, gray, or green with black webbing.  Too late, now.  14 done this way.
