New gun and some advice please.
« on: 02 September 2008, 03:52:31 PM »
Hi all,

I've just finished painting the new Armstrong Electricity Cannon crewed by troops of the 1st Electrical Battery, R.A.  and thought I'd share some pics. The gun and crew are from Parroom.

I could do with some advcie. I'm looking for similar figures (other than Parroom) to crew other guns I'm putting together. Any ideas where I can get some, goggles are a must.

Thanks in advance.

Very nice dear Boy. That should help give those Prussians a damn good drubbing. :) As to figures suitable to crew the other guns, I shall put my thinking cap on.

You might know about them already, but there's the VSF vehicle crew from Eureka: http://eurekamin.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=87_126_149&products_id=1867

I also suppose that one of the Pig Iron heads might work for converting some regular gun crew:

I specifically mean the one second from the left. Maybe use some green stuff to extend the mask over the places where the bare head is showing, or sculpt some hair in place.

I also forgot to say, very nice work with those models!

Hello,

That's some pretty nifty paintwork there. Where do you buy your Parroom stuff? Do you ship it from the US?

I can also recommend the eureka tank crew, I bought a pack from Fighting15s a while back, and am very pleased with them. They work well for just about all mechanical jobs, as it were...

No you are confusing them with the mounted Electro cavalry regiment who had the yellow stripe, the artillery always wore red... ;) lol

Rhoderic -  I've already got some of those Eureka figs marked for repair crews but thanks for the heads up with the Pig Iron idea. Malamute came to the same conclusion as you.

Answer_is_42 - Ever since Newline stopped stocking it I've been having the Parroom stuff shipped from the US. I usually wait till I've got quite a bit to order to make it worth my while or make a group order with fellow gamers.

Nice paint job.

Can't help with artillery crew with goggles, but Parroom's naval landing party figures cone with pairs of heads - one with goggles and one without.  The cutlass armed sailors might be a good start for conversion to naval gun crew. Alternatively try using greenstuff to add goggles to figures - on my painting table I am working on a unit of French Fusiliers Aerospatiale made using Redoubt Boxer Rebellion French with goggles added (and very nice they look too).

How have you Parroom to deal with? I want to get some more 4 armed martians (including the mounted ones)

Edit: Nice gun and crew by the way
