Looking for FenFa train?
« on: 14 May 2015, 12:42:19 AM »
UPDATE: Feel free to skip my poor quality pics below and go to the second post where I found a USA dealer who lists all the sets as well as separate tracks and engines at prices that are competitive with the best of the Amazon dealers.

I was at the lllinois Railway Museum last weekend and I saw a bunch of the FenFa train sets.  Upon closer reflection I didn't see much use for myself, but I thought I could help you all out a bit. Below I've got the various train sets I was able to find and the model number from the bottom of the box.

I don't know if they'd be willing to mail them to you, but it couldn't hurt to ask. At least now you have the item numbers and you can find their contact information here: http://www.irm.org
At the very least, maybe it'll help folks find them online.

Anywho, here you go.  My apologies for the poor quality of the pictures, I only had my cheap camera phone. If you click through the pics you should be able to see a larger version. The item is shown first with it's model number immediately following.  Unfortunately it looks like some share the same model number, but hopefully it'll help you narrow the field.

EDIT: I think the most important fact is that WowToyz appears to be the USA distributor.  A search on amazon in the USA brings up quite a few of these affordable train sets!

Just found this site that lists the different sets for sale separately even the ones that share the same sku.
http://www.mightytoy.com/Trains/b/3212327011?field_subjectbin=&field_price=&field_size_name=&field_age_range_description=&field_brandtextbin=&field_age_gender_category=&searchRank=salesrank&searchSize=12&searchPage=1&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Csize_name%2Cage_range_description%2Cbrandtextbin%2Cage_gender_category
Effectively this link renders my first post useless. On the positive side, they looks to be just as cheap (cheaper for the big set) and they sell engines and track separately also!

Pretty cheap - I wonder how they scale up...

The steam engine and rolling stock seem to work ok with 28mm, especially as a smaller -possibly narrow gauge- engine. A bit compressed, but it looks good. Here's the Steamer next to figures.

Scroll down for the larger version. The first pic appears to be the "scout" smaller version of the engine.

The diesel passenger loco and cars are closer to 20mm however, though if you don't mind having your trains compressed as much as your buildings, they might be useable in 28mm. You can see it here:

I think also that for a colonial adventure type of train, the steam engine would be a good match for the Thomas and friends "Trackmaster" lories. You can get 3 in a pack for a pretty reasonable price, http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Thomas-TrackMaster-Dockside-Delivery/dp/B00NC6YW4E/ref=sr_1_3?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1431977590&sr=1-3&keywords=trackmaster+cars
The trucks might need some work though maybe a swap for some of the trucks from a fenfa car?
