1/96e Regiment de Ligne - Talavera
« on: 12 July 2015, 03:04:08 PM »
Hi all,
I have just finished the first battalion of my second French regiment, the 96e Ligne as part of a Talavera project requiring eight such regiments.

The 96e Ligne have an interesting pedigree starting out as one of the many foreign raised units to grace the Bourbon army. The regiment was a very experienced veteran one by the time it marched into Spain.

Interesting unit and nicely done as always.

Personally I would have been tempted to go for the yellow tipped red plume for the voltiguers as well.

Thank's Gustav.
Yes the red/yellow plumes were probably perculiarities to the musicians rather than the officers and soldiers as the Otto Manuscript shows a carrot shaped plume of green, with the officer having the yellow tip. Two years on and into Spain I reckon they may have been re-uniformed and decided to stick with the more standard appearance all be it maintaining the yellow cuff flaps.

Anyway after 200 plus years, there is a lot of guess work and I await an 18mm figure with the fancy shako chords
Cheers
JJ
