My Warlands Models
« on: 22 August 2015, 02:24:04 AM »
My club has started playing Warlands, and so I've been putting together an army.  This is the Red Army, who are a bunch of self-proclaimed anarcho-socialists who act more like feudal lords, ruling over a number of communities. In theory they are preventing the formation of new governments in order to ensure that people remain free, in practice they are the very militant rulers they fear will rise. Despite this hypocrisy, or perhaps because of it, those communities that fall within the boundaries of the Red Army's patrols are grateful for the Red Army's presence.  The Army do an effective job of keeping out marauders, keeping the towns relatively safe, and organize and control water and food rationing to ensure that even the sick and desperate receive enough to stave off death.  In turn, this stability has attracted many skilled refugees, giving the Red Army ready access to mechanics and craftsmen, and thus the Red Army's vehicles are very well-maintained.

All of the vehicles are Matchbox or Hot Wheels, mostly Matchbox.  The screens in the windows are screen door patch.  There's some diamond plate from Evergreen Plastics, but most of the armor, the weapons and the drivers are all from Stan Johnson miniatures.  It's hard to tell from the pictures but all of the cars have drivers, gunners and often passengers, and they're all painted.  I did them in two waves and the second wave is pretty obvious because the anti-shine spray I used frosted.  Grr.  If anyone knows a fix, I'd love to hear it.

The Eliminator - A proxy for the Maxwell V8 Interceptor with Load-Out 2 (Mini-Gun) with a Hero at the helm.

Maniac's MBX 4x4 - A Desert Warrior with a Mini-Gun and my shotgun wielding Champion "Maniac," who you can see laying on the hood angling for the best shot.

The Brit (Toyota Land Cruiser) - He drives on the left side of the road and doesn't care what you think!  The Brit is a Hero in a Monster Truck with Twin SMG and rear Defense Tubes.

Dune Dog - A Rugged Raider with an LMG and a Front Ram. I also run it as a Weasel Command Vehicle with my Leader inside.  Love that .50 cal.

Custom CJ - A 2-Seater Desert Warrior with an LMG.

M-ATV - A Rugged Raider with an LMG and a Warrior with Fire Bombs.

Bikes - I run these as Wasteland Bikers straight out of the book.  I have two more painted, just waiting for some round 40mm bases to arrive so I can base them.

Water Truck - A Truck with a Spud Autogun and side-mounted SMG. This one is for scenarios and is meant as a prize to be captured in escort missions.  The Red Army's real power is its control of an aquifer well-head and ability to deliver water to local communities, who in turn keep the Army fed and their vehicles running.

I have a few more Red Army vehicles to finish, and some units of Warriors, then my next project will be a hot-rod-centric army of baddies called the M'Rodders.

Hey Sherbert!

I didn't bring the Water Truck down on Tuesday because it doesn't fit in the tray I was using to transport everything, and the SMG on the side is kind of delicate.
