Top Shelf Painted Escher.
« on: 05 September 2015, 02:46:51 AM »
A long overdue update.  I've long loved the classic Escher miniatures, but never felt I had the painting ability to do the scupts justice. However, I recently had a friend -whose painting style I really admire paint up my 15 woman Escher gang in exchange for me building him a bunch of custom terrain.
And here they are!

Pics of all figs front and back and plenty of details here: http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2015/09/the-exchange-with-mattias-part-2-escher.html
They're all stock figures except for the figure on the left which has an interesting history...

One more teaser to entice you to visit.

I really like them.
I like that the colours are more "muted" not as garish colourful as the GW art from the 80s/90s.

Thanks! I love older minis in more contemporary paint schemes and styles.  It really shows how great many of these sculpts really were.

Thanks,
I was briefly hesitant to ruin their value by clipping off the tabs.  However, these are the last figures I'd ever sell and I really wanted something dynamic for their basing.  The resin bases ended up being perfect as they have lots of nooks and crannies for the wet-effects that my buddy surprised me with.

The desaturated colours on these work beautifully - fantastic job!

I had the same thought when I saw them.  I knew what his general style was and I asked for a mix of skin tones , but beyond that I gave him free rein.  I've never seen red and blue Escher, but I'm really happy with them.

I highly recommend his blog if you want to see more of his rather unique painting style.

Lots of oddball figs, vintage goodies and blood bowl stuff on there.

They look amazing, full of character. Love the bronzes and the autumnal colours too.
I get quite a Mad Max 2 vibe from them!!
